Learning from Our Past Conversations – We value the insights gathered from previous focus group discussions. Below are summaries of what we’ve learned and how these discussions are shaping our policy recommendations to increasing Black representation in the Tech and Banking and Finance sectors.  

August 21, 2024 – Focus Group on Discriminatory Practices, Credential Recognition, Mentorship 

Focus Group: Immigrant Black Individuals

Summary: Participants shared experiences of underrepresentation in leadership roles and the impact of discriminatory practices in the workplaces. They also discussed challenges related to the recognition of foreign credentials, which often hinder career advancement. The group emphasized the need for targeted leadership development programs and robust mentorship initiatives. Action items include proposing changes to support Black professionals in overcoming these barriers and ensuring their progression within leadership pipelines.
