Awareness + Co-creation Workshops
Join us in creating sustainable change!
Our Virtual Awareness and Co-creation Workshops provided a valuable platform for Black professionals, employers, and industry associations to engage with our research insights and collaborate on meaningful solutions. These workshops fostered impactful dialogue aimed at addressing systemic inequities within the banking, finance, and tech sectors in Alberta and British Columbia.
The Alberta workshop took place on September 3, 2024, followed by the British Columbia workshop on September 19, 2024.
In the first half of each workshop, we presented key findings from our comprehensive research, which integrated in-depth literature reviews, interviews with industry leaders and professionals, and broad-reaching surveys. This research offered participants a detailed understanding of the current landscape of Black representation in both professional and managerial roles. Our analysis highlighted the progress made thus far, while also identifying the persistent gaps that need to be addressed.
In the second half, participants engaged in solution-driven discussions, developing actionable strategies to improve Black representation and inclusion within these sectors. The proposed recommendations include targeted recruitment and internship programs, transparent diversity metrics, career advancement and leadership development initiatives, and the promotion of inclusive hiring practices. These solutions will be submitted to government leaders as part of our broader advocacy efforts to influence policy and drive systemic, lasting change.
